Paul Ellis, Chair of the Milpitas Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Commission, will present useful information on emergency preparedness at the Sunnyhills Community Breakfast, 9am, at the San Jose City College Milpitas Extension and via zoom. This is a topic of great importance given the year of fires, floods, and wind storms in California and beyond, and given our proximity to major earthquake faults. Ellis will share resources available to everyone, but especially helpful for those who may need a little more guidance because of age, language, physical challenges, etc.
Ellis has been actively involved in emergency preparedness in Milpitas for almost a decade. He is currently the Chair of the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Commission after serving as Vice-Chair the prior two years, and as a Commissioner for 3 years before that. Ellis is a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) certified Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) instructor. He is also the Emergency Coordinator and Chief Radio Officer for Milpitas ARES/RACES group responsible for providing amateur radio communications for the city in the event of a disaster.
