“Black History Month Tea Time”

February 6, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am

A Discussion of the Inequalities and Social Upheavals of Today’s Society

Join us on Saturday, February 6, at 9 am, for a virtual version of our traditional Sunnyhills Black History Month Kickoff. Sunnyhills Neighborhood Association’s new board member, Demetress Morris, will be our Black History Month keynote speaker this year. Morris heads up the Flame Keepers and is a former City Council candidate. Additionally, Morris has served on the Milpitas Planning Commission, School Site Council, Community Advisory Board for Milpitas Unified School District, and Milpitas Executive Lion Club, just to mention a few. Her greatest pleasure has been to work with and collaborate with one of our oldest communities here in Milpitas, Sunnyhills. She earned a BS in Applied Management (GUC) and MS (GCU) in Leadership, and her commitment continues to be centered on community organizing. She is dedicated to improvement in environmental issues, equity, community engagement, diversity, maintaining Milpitas’ legacy, and creating a safe place for your voices to be heard. Come hear what she has to say about our current situation.
