Black History Breakfast with Nyla Choates

February 3, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Sunnyhills Neighborhood Association is excited to be hosting Nyla Choates as our guest speaker for our Annual Black History Breakfast Presentation. Breakfast including coffee/tea, juice, fruit, and pastries is free – donations gratefully accepted! Choates is an MHS alum and currently studying at Spelman College.  She is the author of the My Roots Are Rich children’s book and nonprofit organization, with the mission to empower, inspire, and educate people about the rich history of African Americans and all their contributions to America. Nyla is also one of the cofounders of the app Bag Alert, which has won two pitch competitions, and is a McDonald’s 2023 Black and Golden Change Leader. She was invited to provide a spiel on the history and impact of Hip Hop for BET’s 2023 Hip Hop Music Awards program this fall. We look forward to hearing her story, starting with her experience growing up black in Milpitas and coordinating the Milpitas Black Lives Matter march as an MHS student!
